Tickets are now available for the 8th District Fundraiser at noon
Saturday, August 21 at the Sullivan County 4-H Building. The special
guest speaker is Sheriff Joe Arpaio, “America’s Toughest Sheriff.”
Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona, an Army veteran who served as a
military policeman in France, was a police officer in Las Vegas before
becoming a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Narcotics (later
the Drug Enforcement Administration), serving in that position in
various locations. In 1992 he was elected sheriff of Maricopa County
and has been re-elected every four years since. His cost-cutting
measures, tent city, volunteer chain gangs, and pink underwear for
inmates have gained favor with voters and garnered national attention.
Tickets are $25 for a single and $40 for a couple. The price of those
12 and under is $12. Funds raised will be used to support candidates
for the Indiana House and Senate within the 8th District.
